The bishop of the Catholic church of Yei, together with his clergy, were in Lasu Payam for a baptism program when there was a temporary take-over of Lasu by rebels. It was reported that the bishop, his clergy, and some members of the community were confined in a church in Lasu as a consequence. However, they were able to return safely to Yei with other people after government intervention.
