Here is why -
The Nationalist Brotherhood Force (NBF) has filed a case against a comedy troupe Har Bae Lay with allegation of defaming the Buddhist religion after its performance broadcast on the Myanmar National Television on 20 March.
NBF is complaintant in the case, with many of its members also involved and they are represented by a lawyer U Aye Paing.
The broadcast included performance by four comedians which NBF said has defamed the religion and some performers were wearing robe of a monk and a hermit.
The decision to file lawsuit was made at a meeting between NBF and the Race and Religion Protection Committee (MaBaTha) on 25 March.
The addresses of the comedians and the director of the troupe are still not known.
NBF said on its website that anyone who try to defame the Buddhist religion will be punished irrespective of their race and religion.
