Here is why -
A group of Ma Ba Tha sympathizers have put pressure on the local authorities to close a place of prayers for Muslims in Thandwe in Rakhine State.
The township authorities conducted an investigation after they received complaint from Ma Ba Tha on 29 June. The investigation team was led by responsible persons from the Township General Administration Department and two persons from Ma Ba Tha were included in the investigation team.
U Swa Lay, who organize the prayers at the place, said the site is his home and those who joined for prayers are members of Jummah Mosque and they do their Friday prayers at his home.
That claim was support by the administrator of Doe Taung ward, where U Swa Lay’s home situated.
The ward is about 1 mile way from Thandwe town. The Muslim farmers live nearby as well as Muslims from No 7 ward of Thandwe used U Swa Lay’s place for prayers.
