Monk group said promoting birth spacing is a task for Buddhists

A monk belong to an ultra-nationalist group, Ma Ba Tha- Myanmar acronym for the Association for Protection of the Race and Religion, wrote in an online journal on 24 September that promoting birth spacing among the Muslims is a task Buddhist should take up. The post was written in the issue number 111 of a pro-Buddhist publication Aung Zeya Tu journal by a monk with the name of Shweyatu Tipidhakadaya Bananta Thilakhabiwuntha with the title “Diamond Jubilee of Missionary Work”. In the article, he made several references to Islam as un- peaceful religion. He use in opposite to the widespread definition on the Islam as religion of peace. In the article, the monk mentioned that due to corrupt practices of the some officials, the people belong to a group of un-peaceful religion, were able travel across the world to create problems they had come into Myanmar and their birth rate was scary. He said if a Buddhist woman accidently get married to a Muslim man, she lost her religion as well as the personal wellbeing. The monk also wrote that to protect Buddhist women and to control the birth rate of the group of un peaceful people is a prime task for all Buddhists. He described the roles of the monks to enact the protection of race and religion laws was an urgent missionary work and who oppose such task are those who are linked to un peaceful terrorists and those who take assistance from such people. The four race and religion laws were drafted by the Ma Ba Tha supporters and they were enacted by the parliament in August 2015, during the reign of president Thein Sein.
