Here is why -
A murder linked to dispute over land donated to a mosque was misreported by a number of leading media in Myanmar as killing over dispute on selection of trustees for a mosque.
The incident in which two people dead and eight injured took place at the Yatkantaw ward of Ohbo Village in Amarapura Township in Myanmar’s second capital Mandalay following a dispute among relatives over ownership of the land.
The incident was reported by The Voice Weekly as dispute over selection of trustees for a mosque.
The Daily Eleven newspaper also misreported on the incident in a news published by the paper by using the title “Two dead in dispute over selection of Maluvis at a Mandalay Mosque” .The news report says the fighting between the new and old trustees had led to the deaths and injuries.
One person who is believed to be committed the killing has been arrested and three among the eight injured who are admitted to Mandalay hospital are known to be in critical conditions
