The Archdiocese of Colombo has issued a press release on 16th September refusing this claim. In page 2 of the press release, under point 2, it says that the statement by Ven. Galabodaaththe Gnanasara during the Salakuna TV program broadcast on 13th September on Hiru TV which said that he warned His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith about an attack against Catholics in 2017 is false. It further mentioned the Cardinal never received such warning from the thero, and the thero only spoke about the rise of Muslim expansionism during his meeting with the Cardinal in 2017. Point 1 of the said press release is about another statement by the thero during the same TV program, which said that there is a possibility of another attack similar to the Easter Sunday Attack happening, and that he has all the details about that, and that he has warned the President about the same. The Archdiocese of Colombo calls upon the Inspector General of Police to conduct a formal investigation about the thero's statement.
