A pro- Buddhist Wunthanu Rakhita group has renamed itself as Dhama Wunthanu Rakhita Group. The group made the decision to change of the name at a meeting held on 6 April at the headquarters of the Association for Protection for Race and Religion more popularly known with its Myanmar acronym Ma Ba Tha. The reform within the group was made as per instruction from Ma Ba Tha. The new leadership include the Central Committee members of Ma Ba Tha as patrons and the new chair is Maung Thway Chun who is the Editor in Chief of two pro Ma Ba Tha publications, Thargi Thway and Aung Zay Yar Tu. U Soe Htun Shein the proprietor of National Prosperity Company was appointed as the secretary. The company has been the key financier for Ma Ba Tha and 969 movement. A senior Ma Ba Tha monk said the group was restructured to give more roles to the civilians so that they could lead in the nationalistic works, which are prohibited for monks. Reference: 7 Day Daily
