Here is why -
Attempts are ongoing in Kayin State to build a pagoda inside the compound of a church in Hline Bwe Township. The church compound is own by Hpa-An religious authorities.
A Buddhist religious flag was put up inside Shin Ma Ku Church during early April.
Before the flag was erected, the fence of the church was destroyed and a Buddha statue was buried inside the church compound.
Father Peter (who goes with one name), a priest of the church said he initially thought only Buddhist villagers were behind the building of the pagoda, but later found out that they were doing at an instruction of Myingyi Ngu monk. The numbers of Christian households are minority in the village.
He said he tried to meet Myingyi Ngu monk on 13 April but so far not possible to meet him.
Peter said Myinegyi Ngu Monk has backing from an armed ethnic group and he is not a member of any of the nine Buddhist sects so he is not under influence of any Buddhist religious leaders.
The 5-acre wide church compound is currently fenced-off but no one came back so far to remove the Buddhist religious flags.
In a similar event in March Myinegyi Ngu monk buried a Buddhist statue near a Mosque in Shwegun village in Hline Bwe Township.
Also, a pagoda was built inside a church compound in Hlaine Bwe Township in last December.
