Here is why -
THE Commander-in-Chief, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, said Bangali, who came into Myanmar from Bangladesh illegally are trying to gain recognition for them as Rohnigya with the help of international extremist groups.
He was speaking on 14 March, at the 13th meeting of the military heads of the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN).
He said the Bangali problem is affecting Myanmar’s internal security as well as the regional stability and the issue need a proper assessment from the responsible countries.
General Min Aung Hlaing said in his speech at the informal meeting of the ASEAN military heads that Bangalis, who are originally from Bangladesh came into Myanmar as laborers around 1850. And according to the census conducted in 1872 the number of Chittagonian Bangalis were 5835 and their number increased to 1,028, 530 by 2015.
He said the relevant organizations should work to prevent Bangali problem and the extremist terrorism.
