An ultra-extremist monk U Wirathu compared the assassinated Muslim lawyer U Ko Ni with a dog. The monk who head a pro-Buddhist group Ma Ba Tha, Myanmar acronym for the Association for Protection of Race and Religion, made the comment during an interview with Speaker Journal. U Ko Ni who was a legal advisor for the ruling National League for Democracy was killed on 29 January. U Wirathu in responding to a question over his social media post in which he praised the killer of U Ko Ni said the Muslim lawyer was like a mad dog and his killer have made a good deed for the community. “If we find a mad dog rampaging in a ward. The whole ward is suffering from what has done by that dog and someone came forward and killed the animal. Even though people feel sympathy with the dog, but since he is giving trouble to all the people in the ward. I am in gratitude to the person who made personal sacrifice and did good deed for the whole ward,” U Wirathu said. The authorities failed to take action against U Wirathu compare U Ko Ni for his social media post praising the killer of U Ko Ni.
