This report is Confirmed true and is of High Priority. Here is why -
Mr John Gaing, the Operation Director of United Nations Office for Humanitarian Coordination Affairs (UNOCHA) described the conditions in the Rohingya camps in Rakhine State as “dreadful”. He was speaking after a tour of Rohingya IDP camps during a trip to Rakhine State in February, where he witnessed unhygienic camp conditions as well as poor shelter conditions for Rohingya IDPs. He also visited a camp in Myaebon Township where the movement of the IDPs are restricted by the authorities. An IDP told BBC that those who tried to leave the camp are being beaten up by canes. Moreover, the IDPs are denied the rights to attend school and from taking treatment at the hospitals. Mr Gaing said even though Myanmar is undergoing democratic transformation but these reforms are not benefitting all the population in the country.
