Here is why -
A group that backs the Race and Religion Protection Committee (MaBaTha) has issued a statement on 20 February saying that it support the article 59 (f) of the constitution, which bars the pro-democracy leader Daw Aung San Suu Kyi from becoming the president.
The Buddhist Vigilante Group said in the statement that it support the provision unequivocally as it is necessary for safeguarding the national security. The group also said it would oppose any attempt to amend or suspend or abolish the article 59 (f).
