Three internally displaced people in Kyauk Phyu were charged by Immigration Department in Thandwe after they tried to travel without their citizenship identification card, which is mandatory for all Myanmar citizens to do, more strictly enforced in Rakhine State. The three Rohingya a 50-year-old women and 17 and 10 years old girls were arrested after they arrive to Thandwe by boat on 22 April, a local news agency Narinjara reported. U Linn Aung, the head of Thandwe Township immigration department said Narinjara that the three are not foreigners. “They have their household registration in Kyauk Phyu, they were arrested for not holding citizenship ID while on travel. Anyone who travel out of their township of residence must carry the citizenship card. That is the law. Anyone who failed to do so are liable to be persecuted under section 29 sub section 1 as well as sections 62 and 63 of the Citizenship Registration Act,” U Linn Aung said. The news on arrest of the three person reported in correctly that they were from The Chaung IDP camp in Pauktaw, but the camp with that name is situated in Sittwe. In The Chaung, camp there are displaced Muslim live, but they do not receive assistance. They were forced to flee by passing rough seas when terrorists attacked them during 2012 sectarian violence in Rakhine State. But the authorities did not allow them to stay there and were move to Sin Tat Hmaw camp in Pauk Taw. “Some people moved to Sin Tat Hmaw, some return to The Chaung as IDPs are allow to build their own homes at The Chaung,” said a Muslim IDP. He said those who have relatives abroad have move out of Myanmar. “They said it is not genocide, but we are facing food shortages so we are facing slow death anyway, even though medical assistance are provided but our people are still dying. Our children are allow to pursue education but they could not do anything. That’s why people are fleeing from this camp,” said a Muslim IDP U Hla Kyaw. He said people from Kyuak Phyu were unable to bring their citizenship identification at the time they fled. And they were not allow to issue new citizenship ID after moving to the camp. He said the three persons were not holding the citizenship IDs, as they no longer have even though they were registered in family household list.
