Recently, there is a rise of accidents related to gas leakages across the island. A post was circulating on Facebook and via WhatsApp which claimed that the Litro Gas company has started a mechanism where one of their technical officers would come to your house and check the safety status of your gas cylinder within 24 hours. The same post urged the public to call the given phone numbers of Litro Gas district coordinators to access the said facility. An external fact checker has confirmed that the phone numbers advertised in fact belong to the district coordinators of the JVP youth wing, and have been misappropriated. The General Manager of Litro Gas too had told the fact checker that they have not started such a checking mechanism involving district coordinators.
