Here is why -
Government has officially confirmed that there are 200 Burmese Rohingyas among the boat-people.
Irrawaddy division’s immigration officer U Khin Soe confirmed on 5th June 2015 that among the 700
boat people which have been arrested near Phya Pone Township, Irrawaddy Delta area, 200 of them
are from Burma. The confirmation came out after an inspection with Sittwe based Bangladesh council
that found among the 733 boat people 546 are Bangladeshis and 187 are from Burma. The Burmese
government also confirmed that there are 8 Burmese Rohingyas among the 208 boat-people that were
arrested on 21st May 2015.
