Here is why -
The Chairman of the Diversity and Peace Party U Nay Myo Wai was released on 15 July after a court in Ayeyarwady Region has dropped all charges related to a defamation case against him. The court ruled that no firm evidences, against U Nay Myo Wai, were submitted to the court.
He was put on trial under the article 66 (d) of the Telecommunication Law at the Kan Gyi Daunt township court after his Facebook page carried indecent pictures of the senior government leaders and a post, which according to the complainant, was intended to incite for the disintegration of the Union.
According to a resident of Kan Gyi Daunt, the trial was unfair, as the prosecution side was not allowed to produce their witnesses, the media showed no interest in the case and those who were working in support of the accused has influenced over the court’s ruling.
The complainant U Wai Yan Aung said he would appeal against the decision to acquit U Nay Myo Wai.
