Here is why -
The Security forces guarding Kyauk Ta Lone camp of internally displaced people (IDPs) in Kyauk Phyu Township were abruptly withdrew on 23 January. The troops were from Thandwe-based 55 Light Infantry Division have withdrew from the camp after receiving an emergency order, RIA News reported.
Following 2012 sectarian violence in the Rakhine State, many Muslims have been forced to live in IDP camps.
A camp superintendent, U Htun Htun, said on 26 January that police battalion no 32 has now taken over the security duty of the camp.
U Htun Htun said although the IDPs in the Kyauk Ta Lone camp are officially barred from going out of the camp but they could do so if they can pay bribe to the authorities.
He said although there is no longer major discord with the ethnic Rakhine population, but dealing with authorities has been difficult.
