This report is Probably true and is of High Priority. Here is why -
THE government led by the National League for Democracy (NLD) has ordered for removal of a signboard, which designate a village in Magwe Region as “Islam free”. The sign has not removed despite of the authorities asked the villagers of Thabye San village in Yenang Chaung Township to do so for two times. The authorities send the order for the second time to the village monastery and the head of the village administration on 29 August. The order was first issued on 27 August during a visit to the village by a NLD minister as a part of his tour to inspect a road connecting Yenang Chaung and Natmauk towns. The minister warned that the villagers that they would have to face legal action if the sign has not been remove. And according to a Facebook page of George W Wira Maw Set the villagers were infuriated by the threat from the minister. The monk of the village told the authorities he would not personally takes out the sign even after the government issued the second order for its removal. The signboard reads as- People of Islamic faith are not allow to spend night in the village. Leasing or selling of home and land to members of Islamic faith is prohibited. Marriage with members of Islamic faith is prohibited. Reference: BHRN and Wira Mos Sess Facebook https://www.facebook.com/mayyu.yapaing.7/posts/307381296282937
