Here is why -
A plot of land in Myawaddy town in Kayin State which was donated by a Muslim for construction of an office of the group working for inter-faith harmony. The land was confiscated at an order of senior monks from the Protection of Race and Religion Committee (Ma Ba Tha). The order was reportedly issued on 26 January and copy of the order is put on display on a signboard erected on the land.
A Facebook page with the name of Than Zaw a.k.a Tha Hton Ne Zar Lay said the land was confiscated as Ma Ba Tha monks feared that the building to be built under a disguise of inter faith group will be used by Kular (a derogatory term use to refer Muslims and Southeast Asian origins in Myanmar) to encourage Buddhists to convert to Muslims. The Facebook post said monks are also dissolution with the Buddhist groups working together with Kular and that was the other reason why the monk issued order to confiscate the land.
The post also said the people of Bago region should also follow that example and should take over the properties belong to inter-faith groups.
