Anti-Rohingya protest in Taunggyi called for expulsion of US envoy

An anti-Rohingya protest march was organized in Taunggyi on 22 March. The protest march in the Shan State capital was led by Win Ko Ko Latt, the Chair of the Myanmar Nationalist Network (MNN) and a member of the network Thet Myo Oo. About 200 people who are on daily wage to participate in the march have also joined. The protest march was started from Nagapwet monastery, which in the past has organized congregation of the Race and Religion Protection Committee (Ma Ba Tha). The protestors carried Buddhist religious flags, posters and chanting slogans which include “ US Ambassador leave the country right now” “We do not accept increasing numbers of ethnic races from currently recognized 135 races” “ We called the Government to protest against the US Embassy’s usage of the word Rohingya” as they marched through the streets of Taunggyi. The ethnic groups did not joined the protest. The majority of those who joined were informant of the former government and members of the 969 movement. Reference Source BHRN
