This report is Confirmed true and is of High Priority. Here is why -
Followers of a senior Buddhist monk who led the building of a pagoda near a Mosque in Shwe Gon village in Kayin State reportedly have buried more Buddha statues in the village. The monk constructed the pagoda on 25 April near the mosque of Shwe Gon village, where majority of Muslims live. A local resident said, “The pagoda was built one month after similar statue was buried, this time they have buried statues in five different places. We will wait and see for one month. As this is a majority Muslim place we are worried tension would arise if and when they come and build pagodas”. Although a team of officials from the State Chief Minister Office and Social Welfare Department came to monitor the situation but no action has so far taken. The team took photo records on the Buddha statues. The local residents said no Buddhists had come to worship at the pagoda on 25 April. Similarly, a pagoda was build inside the compound of Anglican Church of Kun Daw village in Hline Bwe Township on 23 April. A new pagoda and congregation hall is also under construction near the church. The local residents said preparation to construct 8 new pagodas in the areas is underway, measurement were recently taken for building more pagodas.
