Here is why -
One house owned by a Muslim in Min Zi village in Kayin State was demolished at the pressure of an anti-Muslim group.
According to a resident of Shwe Gon village, the unnamed anti-Muslim group came to the village on 6 May and asked the authorities to demolish the house as the homeowner acquired the land illegally. They threatened to burn down the house if it was not demolished.
“We went to Shwe Gun as soon as we heard the news about the incident. The township administrator did what he was told to do by that group. The home owner agreed to demolish the house as it is better than it is put on fire, at least they can get back wood from the house. It is absolutely unfair. They can treat our Muslim any way they want.
He said, “The identity of the group is still not known they did as the group told them to do. It is complete lack of rule of law. The local authorities are not giving any assistance to the affected family”.
The family whose home was destroyed is staying with the relatives.
