Here is why -
A group of Rohingya people who travelled from Rakhine to the mainland Myanmar were arrested in Nga Phe town in Magwe Region.
The two Rohingya from Minbya Township along with the six people, who tried to smuggle them, were arrested on the Ann-Minbu highway on 10 August. The police charged the eight people under the section 6, sub section 3 of the 1949 registration act for people living in Myanmar.
In a similar incident, a group of six Rohingya youths, age ranging from 13 to 25 were arrested in Nga Phe on 22 August. An immigration official said they would also be charged under the same law as the eight arrested earlier.
Many Rohingya who tried to travel to Yangon and other parts of Myanmar are frequently being arrested and they faces charges under the section 6 sub section 3 of the 1949 registration act for people living in Myanmar. Under that law those who failed to register on their travel and get travel permit in an inappropriate ways, could face rigorous imprisonment between six months to two years
