Here is why -
A senior monk has urged his followers to have courage to demolish homes of Muslims and mosques if such kind of actions warranted. Zwe Ka Pin monk U Bandata Zatika was speaking at an event to mark the third anniversary of the establishment of the Committee on the Race and Religion Protection (Ma Ba Tha), of which he is a member.
He gave an example of an event in Kaso village in Kayin State where Muslims were forced to leave the village after a love affair between a Muslim and Buddhist couple. And the village mosque was demolished and a pagoda was built in that place. He said the village has 24 Muslim households.
“The villagers have done these tasks during a single night. Muslims were told not to come back to the village. The pagoda was built overnight. We need such a courage,” Zwe Ka Pin monk U Bandata Zatika who is a holder of a religious title Bandata Kawai Zay said.
The monk, said he support the actions by a fellow monk Myaing Gyi Ngu, who is overseeing construction of pagodas on the land owned by Mosques and Churches in a number of places in Kayin State.
Zwe Ka Pin monk’s recent comment in which he praised the actions by Myaing Gyi Ngu monk is reflective of the fact that Ma Ba Tha is supporting the actions by the latter.
He said Myaing Gyi Ngu monk is trying to excavate old pagodas and to rebuild new ones in those places.
“You dig the ground he pointed out you will find an old pagoda” Zwe Ka Pin monk said.
He said Muslims have built mosques and toilets on the land were pagodas stood before.
