Here is why -
The villagers from Latpan village of Kyaukpadaung Township refused to accept water donation from the Commodities Traders Group from Meiktila after the group used donation to win the villagers support for 969 Buddhist movement.
The group from Meiktila went to the village to donate on 17 May and they played the music of 969 movement and try to win support for the movement, which prompted the villagers to refuse the water donation.
An eyewitness said about 25 people, all of whom were drunk, came to the village to do water donation but their behaviors were strange and they involved in argument with the villagers.
In a similar incident last year, locals in Kyauk Padaung have expelled a group of extreme nationalists 969 movement who came to the town. They were expelled after the local residents disliked playing of 969 movement songs.
