This report is Confirmed true and is of Medium Priority. Here is why -
An unnamed person who published a statement critical to the Chief Minister of Yangon Region, U Phyo Min Thein is charged by Pazundaung Police under the article 66 (d) of the Telecommunication law. The statement was published on a Facebook page bearing the name “Dimo Seikphwa”. The post said the statement was published by a prestigious Buddhist group, Young Men Buddhist Association (YMBA). The fake statement said U Phyo Min Thein’s recent comment against the Association for Protection of Race and Religion- more widely known with its Burmese acronym Ma Ba Tha- was against democracy and was an attack on the civil society organizations. It said the Chief Minister has called for abolishment of the Ma Ba Tha for three times during the past few months. The YMBA has lodged a complaint against the publisher with the police after a meeting of its members has decided to take actions against the publisher of the fake statement. The statement said U Phyo Min Thein has committed a misdeed by calling for the dismantlement of the Ma Ba Tha, which is working for the interest of the Buddhists. Reference : Voice, July 12, pg 7
