This report is Confirmed true and is of Low Priority. Here is why -
A broadcast on the state own television Myanma Television on 2 November said the attack on three border outposts of Myanmar security force in Maungtaw and Rathetaung on 9 October were carried out by “ Islamic terrorists”. The usage of the term has created impression that blame for the attack was put on the entire Muslims in the country. Similarly, a state-own newspaper use Kular (a derogatory word used in Myanmar to refer Muslims and the people of south Asian origins) in a news on killing of 10 Muslim pilgrims in Taunggyup town in Rakhine State in June 2012. The Director General of the President Office U Zaw Htay recently criticized the Myanmar Times newspaper for publishing unfair news on the incident as he said most its coverage on the incident used the quotes from local Muslim population of Maungtaw. The state-own media however never attempted to hear the version of the local Muslims in the state. The successive governments in Myanmar have not only work to control racial slurs and abusive words against Muslims but also itself use such words. Reference: Source of BHRN
