This report is Confirmed true and is of High Priority. Here is why -
AT LEAST 22 members of Kaman ethnic group from Ramree Township in Rakhine State, who are staying in Yangon in search for job and to study, were denied permit for short stay. According to the Township Administration Officer, who said he refused to grant permission on instruction from superiors. The Kaman people move to Yangon in November 2015 as they were facing hardships economically as well as for their health and education. The local authorities have said they would not permit the Kaman people to live in Yangon at the initial period of their arrival in the city. But authorities later allow them to live on temporary permit after their plight was raised by the media. And four months after their arrival they are no longer issue with temporary stay permit. The Kaman National Network has sent request letters to the Yangon Region Government, the Chief Minister, Yangon Region Immigration and National Registration Department and to respective Township Administration Offices to allow them to be registered in temporary family list, which is issued normally to other temporary residents of the city. Following sectarian violence in Rakhine State in 2012 many Kaman people in Ramree Township moved to internally displaced camps in fear for their lives.
