This report is Confirmed true and is of Medium Priority. Here is why -
THE students and their supporters facing a trial in Thayarwaddy Township Court said they are boycotting the court. The student informed their decision in a plea sent to the judge at the court. They made the plea at the end of their 43rd court appearances on 15 March. The students says they are boycotting as they feel the justice system in Myanmar was unfair. A student group All Burma Student League also said in a media briefing on 15 March that the students will boycott all the courts, including Thayarwaddy court. The students said they have revoked the court power given to their lawyers as they no longer have faith on the judicial system. They listed out a number of issues which they said made them believe so. The students says they are detained unfairly and authorities are increasing charges against them. The also accused the court of denying their lawyers’ right to defend and also for denying them to file a counter lawsuit against the government agency. The judge at the Thayarwaddy court said the court would pursue the case according to the law, even though the students failed to cooperate with the court.
