A trustee of War Mosque has denied a media report, which said the mosque is expanding its building. U Abdullah said only refurbishing has been done as the mosque building badly needed repair. And he said the municipal authorities has given all necessary permissions. U Abdullah said the mosque, which is situated in 43rd Street, has received permission from the municipal authorities on 24 January to do the repair work during a period of three months. He said the municipal authorities made regular inspection on the repair work and there is no objection from any organization so far. Nay Win Aung who is a member of Myanmar Nationalist Network wrote on his Facebook page on 19 February that the mosque was constructing a new building and authorities should stop that. He said Kular, are doing malpractices, which they are accustomed to do. “It is just attempt to create unnecessary problems, we have special yellow page permit from the municipal authorities which is issued only for renovation of religious buildings and also we have permit from the Yangon Region Government,” U Abdullah said.
