This report is Confirmed false and is of High Priority. Here is why -
A post on a fake social media site, the 7-Day News Journal Myanmar reported that two Buddhist men were attacked in front of a mosque in Mawlamyine by a group of Bengali Muslims. The post said two Buddhist brothers were attacked as they went pass the mosque on a motorbike. It said the incident took place during early morning when the two men were going to donate food to monks. It said they were recused by a group of villagers and admitted to the hospital to treat their wounds. The fake pictures, which showed the two injured men in the alleged incident, were also posted. The post said 10 suspected Kular (a derogatory term used in Myanmar to refer Muslims and the people of South Asian origins) were still at large and said it was regretful that the people living in their own country have to face such assault. The pictures posted together with the news were those taken after a motorbike incident at the Myaine Tharyar junction on 7 November. The pictures show members of a charity group helping two Chinese nationals injured in the incident. Similarly, an incorrect news saying that some people were attacked in front of a mosque in Than Phyu Zayat Township in Kayin State was also posted on the social media recently. The trustees of the mosque has reported to the police that no such incident took place and a local resident U Maung Maung has also refuted the news on 9 November in a post on his Facebook page. U Maung Maung wrote that the authorities should take severe actions against those who are deliberately spreading fake news with the intention to incite religious conflict. In the authentic 7 Day News Facebook page the number of people “Like” the site has more than 11 million while in the fake site there were only 900. The fake site mostly include posts, which are inflammatory news to incite religious violence.
