This report is Confirmed false and is of Medium Priority. Here is why -
A senior monk, who is a member of a pro-Buddhist group Ma Ba Tha- the Myanmar acronym for the Association of Protection of the Race and Religion, said Myanmar race could be wiped out due to increasing numbers of Rohingya (Bengali) population. Ashin Santa Zawti wrote in an article published in the Aungzayyatu Journal on 18 November that the Bengalis are always trying to enter into Myanmar in every possible ways and the people of Myanmar and government should joined hands to prevent them from coming into the country. The article with the title “Myanmar race could disappear due to Bengalis” said the authorities should check the citizenship identities of the people with dark skins, including the crows. Otherwise Myanmar will become a black country with Bengali will be in dominance. The comment by the monk is seen as exaggerations and as a part of propaganda campaign against Rohingya people. The population count of Rohingya people was unable to establish by 2014 nationwide population census as they boycotted the population count. However, according an estimate by the United Nations and other International organizations the total population of the Rohingya is around 1.4 million while the country’s total population is 51 million.
