Here is why -
On 29th May, Immigration Minister U Khin Ye said in a news conference that the
authority is offering temporary card (Green Card) for Rohingya those who returned
the White Card.
The White Card was issued in 1995 and the expiry date was not printed. On 31st
March 2015, authority announced to return it within 1st April to 31st May. According to
the immigration department, there are more than 600,000 White Card holders
Rakhine state and about 400,000 were returned it. The director of National Identity
Card department said, there are 700,000 White Card holders in Burma and 415,000
have already returned it so these people will be given Green Card from 16th June.
