Here is why -
A voice bomb exploded at the residence of the chief editor of Root Investigated News Agency (RiA) in Sittwe on 10 March, the police said.
The blast occurred around noon at the editor’s home situated at Sittwe’s Danyawaddy ward.
The new agency earlier received a threat posted on social media Facebook. The threat accused RiA of creating division among the Rakhine people and for sharing information to Myanmar military that led to the arrest of many members of Arakan Army (AA). It also said RiA should be wiped out from Rakhine State.
The chief Editor of RiA said the attack against his home was a threat to the journalists and it would also affect the law and order situation of the country. He was speaking at a media conference held at the office of the Myanmar Journalist Network.
The Sittwe City Centre police has open a case under 1908 explosive acts under the case number (P) 341/16. No one arrested so in connection with the incident.
