This report is Probably false and is of Medium Priority. Here is why -
A news on road incident involving a Muslim driver and two novices in Bago region was incorrectly reported on social media with an aim to incite religious hatred. A Facebook page of Soe Naing posted a fabricated news on the accident. The post used the news on the incident published by the Democratic Voice of Burma and added a provocative headline using a derogatory word on the driver’s race and said the driver had deliberately hit the two novices. His post was later appeared on many other Facebook pages. The two novices, who were from Pyeik Phyu Tawya Monastery, passed away due to injuries sustained in the accident. The driver has been arrested by the police of Kanyut Kwin Township, where the incident took place. The incidents of religious incitement and spreading hate message using social media are on the rise during the past few weeks.
