Village monk issue order inter faith marriage by Buddhists

The head of Thayatpin village monastery in Yamethin Township has issued a localized order on 24 March banning inter faith marriages. It says those who disobey the order will have to leave the township and relatives of the couple has to give kyat 500 000 as fine. The news feature on Facebook account of Wibazathway and according to the news published online says any Thayatpin villagers married to a non-Buddhist, that person has to convert to Buddhism, otherwise the couple would not be allow to live in the village. The relatives of the couple will have to give Kyat 500 000 as fine to the village development committee.
