Here is why -
The Chief Minister of Rakhine State said most of the Muslims living in Maungtaw, in the northern parts of the state were foreigners. The comment was posted on social media page of the Chief Minister on 7 February.
The post was on a meeting of the meeting of the Coordination Body on the Security, Rule of Law and Development (1/2007). It said “In Maungtaw district there are people from six ethnic groups (Kachin, Chin, Bamar, Mon, Rakhine and Shan) live and there are 834827 other people who are foreigners from India, Bangladesh and Pakistan and other places.
There is no official statement, which said the majority of Muslims living in Rakhine State are foreigners.
