This report is Confirmed true and is of Low Priority. Here is why -
The authorities are planning to file a lawsuit against an organiser of a ceremony in Ayeyarwady Region in which ultra nationalist monk U Wirathu gave sermon by sealing his mouth with tape, despite of one-year ban imposed on him on giving sermon. The head of the General Administration Department of Einme Township, U Thet Zaw Oo, said he would press charge against U Khin Maung Win, who organised the sermon. On 8 February, U Wirathu gave a sermon at Kyone Ku village in Ngapu Taw Township which include hate message against the Muslims also criticism against the government led by the National League for Democracy (NLD), he also attacked against Buddhist women. Kyone Ku is a native of former president, U Thein Sein. U Wirathu sermon included praise for the former president. The monk supervisory committee the State Maha Nayaka Committee has imposed one-year ban on sermons by U Wirathu. The order was passed at the committee’s 47 members plenary committee held on 9 March. The committee said the ban was imposed as his sermons are causing hatred among the members of the different religions, which lead to religious riots and also as they cause hindrance to enforcing law and order. The Ayeyarwady Region Government has also issue an order to U Wirathu to abide by the ban imposed on him. The order was issued after a cabinet meeting of the Regional government, which said U Wirathu would not be allowed to give sermon in the Ayeyarwady Region. U Wirathu gave sermon in Thone Kyine village in Ma U Bin Township on 8 March, despite of the ban. Reference: The Voice Daily 21 March 2017, Mizzima
