Here is why -
A sign of “Islam free village” was put up at a village in Nyaungdon Township in Ayeyarwady Region early April. A news posted on social media on 5 April said the sign was put up at the entrance of Thaung Tan village by some monks and local residents.
The sign said
I. Muslims are not allow to spend nigh at the village
II. Muslims are not allow to buy, sell, lease land and home in the village
III. Marriage with Muslims are not allowed
A similar sign was put up in front of Phone Gyi Kone village in Kyaung Kone Township.
