Here is why -
A group of Buddhists led by Myinegyi Ngu monk buried a Buddha statue and built a pagoda inside a mosque compound of a village in Kayin State.
A group of 70 people carrying various types of weapons including guns and grenades had intruded into the compound of Marakaz Mosque situated on Bo Gyoke road in Shwe Gon village on 25 April and build a pagoda overnight.
The place where the pagoda was built include land own by mosque and municipal department.
A local resident who requested for anonymity said a group of six people buried a Buddha statue near the site where the pagoda was built on 23 April.
Other eyewitnesses said the local authorities and police came to the site while the pagoda was being built but they did not attempt to stop the construction. They left after taking a few photographs.
Myinegyi Ngu monk also oversee building of a pagoda inside a church compound in Kwne Taw village recently. According to local residents, the pagoda has now being painted and a pagoda crown was installed.
“Our government has everything necessary tools to take action in these matters, but we are handling it very cautiously to avoid the disagreements between the two sides become larger,” said U Min Tin Win, the Minister of Religious Affairs in Kayin State Government when asked for comment on the incident by RFA news agency.
