Here is why -
A news publish on the social media on 4 May said explosive chemicals were found from a Muslim passenger on a highway bus, but the news was found to be a rumor.
The post said explosive chemical liquid was found from an unnamed Muslim passenger on Mandalar Min passenger bus. The post was aimed at creating public unrest.
The post was based on an actual incident in which a man from Pyin Oo Lwin gave information to Mandalar Min bus gate in Meiktila by telephone on 4 May that a time bomb was planted on the bus that left the gate at 1 p.m. The police searched the bus but did not find any suspected item on it. The nationalist element used that incident and put fabricated news on the social media.
As soon as the news about time bomb was reached to the bus driver, he worked for the safety of the passengers; first, he contacted the nearest highway police. The police later informed Intagaw engineering battalion, whose bomb clearing squad searched the bus at the 66th mile on the highway.
They did not find bomb or any explosives. The police in a post on its Facebook has condemned the person who gave wrong information.
