An extremist monk, U Wirathu, said many Maluvis in Myanmar are preaching children on how to conduct Jihad, he wrote the comment in a post on his Facebook page on 9 January 10:26 a.m.
“We have many Maluvis who are preaching Myanmar Muslim children on how to conduct Jihad. Because of their bad influence people who want to destroy the world are emerging,” he wrote.
“The world is not at peace because of them”.
“Muslim from Myanmar need to uncover those Maluvis who are bad influence. I want harmony among all religions,” he continued.
He made radical comments in a post in his response to a BBC news report on sentencing to 20 years imprisonment of a Maluvi in Kenya for his role in preaching Jihad at a school. His post featured together with a Burmese translation of the new published by a local publication Mandalay Ahlin Journal.
