Here is why -
A truck load of Rohingya Muslim from an Internally Displaced People [IDP] camp in Sittwe Rakhine statewas arrested in Hmawbi while they were being trafficked to Yangon in military trucks. They were detained at Hmawbi police station and charged with illegal trespassing.
A local news journal reported that about 30 Rohingyas from Thechaung and Thatkepyin IDP camps in Sittwe were arrested on 20 August. They were being trafficked in a military owned FAW truck and they were transported up to Pandaung Township and from there they were transported in a civilian vehicle to Yangon. The IDPs had to pay Kyat 1.2 million per adult and Kyat 0.6 million for children to the traffickers.
According to investigation by authorities among the 29 Rohingyas attempted to reach to Yangon only 10 people, including 9 children and one adult, were able to reached to Hmawbi and the rest were stranded in Pangdaung.
