Here is why -
A group of Rakhine people has organized a protest march in Yangon on 10 July against the “Muslims in Rakhe State” usage by the government in reference to the Rakhine States’s Rohingya population.
The protestors chanted slogans as “use Bengali only” “stop using Muslim community in Rakhine State” “We don’t want other name for Bengali illegal immigrants”, as they marched in Yangon’s Tamwe township.
Despite the police tried to stop the protestors, but they managed to march from the Kye Thun Pagoda to a public assembly point in the Tamwe Township.
A self- proclaimed nationalist Naung Taw Lay said the protests would continue until the government stop using the term. He said the government was doing with its own conviction, people also have a strong commitment to stop using of the term they though was inappropriate.
