A statement issued by the Race and Religion Protection Committee (Ma Ba Tha) has urged the government to declare Rohingya race does not exist in Myanmar and called for implementation of the 1982 Citizenship Law.
The statement was issued on 5 June at the end of a three-day conference in Yangon to mark the 3rd anniversary of Ma Ba Tha. The conference was held at the Aung San Taw Ya monastery in Insein, situated at the outskirt of Yangon. The statement also called the government to give special emphasis on protection of Buddhist religion as it is practiced by majority of the people in Myanmar.
The chair of Ma Ba Tha, Bandata Tilawka Bi Wintha said his group would use every means to protect the citizenship law if any attempt were made to scrap it.
He said other important point was that some people creating a fake ethnic race in the name of Rohingya and every attempt should be made to stop them.
The statement also called for deportation of foreigners who are living in the country illegally and to build a wall along the Myanmar-Bangladesh border to prevent the influx of illegal immigrants from the other side.
It also called to reassess the lawsuit against a prominent politician U Nay Myo Wai who is facing legal actions for posting inappropriate pictures of the government leaders.
The statement also called for a stringent control on consumption of alcohol and drugs as well as harmful food chemicals.
It also called for crackdown on entertainment services, which are against Myanmar tradition, and on improper dressing.
The statement also reaffirmed Ma Ba Tha’s commitment to protect the four race and religion protection laws.
It also called 300 chapters of Ma Ba Tha across the country to open Facebook account and to do a more systematic information sharing among the members of the all chapters.
