Here is why -
A brawl between a Muslim and Buddhist youths in Thingyan Gyun A ward was used to incite religious violence by spreading inflammatory information on the incident on social media on 24 April.
However, according to a resident of the ward the actual incident was a Buddhist youth who is a resident of 3rd street of greater A ward had an argument with a Muslim youth at a teashop and it was settled after the owner of the shop has intervened.
But a group of 969 movement members came back to the teashop where the brawl took placed with an intention to create problem and the incident was misreported on the social media that Muslim group did hostile acts against them.
The Thuwuna Police Station 20 has released the two youth as it was a minor brawl, but 969 members informed Win Ko Ko Latt of Nationalist Network and the Chair of Naung Taw Lay Group and Diversity and Peace Party U Nay Myo Wai to help to settle the brawl between the two youths.
The local authorities had a discussion with U Nay Myo Wai’s group in the ward congregation hall and after that; they searched the teahouse, which is owned by a Muslim. The police did not find sticks, swards and any other weapons in the shop as accused by the nationalist group.
However, at the pressure of the nationalist groups, the police arrested teashop owner U Esoof, a resident of the ward said.
