Here is why -
The secretary of Myanmar Historical Research Group Dr Kyaw Win said his department is to publish a research paper to support a claim by the government that there is no Rohingya race in Myanmar. He said during a media interview during the second week of November.
Dr Kyaw Win said his department would give comment to a research paper with the title “Activities of Bengalis in Rakhine State” which was drafted by the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture.
He said the decision to publish the paper was agreed at a meeting of the Myanmar Historical Group held in late October. The meeting was chaired by the Minister of Religious Affairs and Culture Thura U Aung Ko was to reconstitute the group with new members. The minister tasked the group to publish the paper at the meeting.
U Kyaw Win said the paper was submitted to the Ministry of Culture when the previous government was in power, but it did not publish the paper. The new government has agreed to publish and the group will publish as soon as it could, but no deadline is set for the publication.
The research paper said the meaning of Rohingya is “Rohin” means homeless and “ja” means human being so the word refer to homeless people. It also said Rohingya does not include in 101 races that lived in Myanmar from centuries.
