This report is Confirmed true and is of Low Priority. Here is why -
A senior lawyer has called for establishment of an independent commission to investigate killing of a prominent Muslim lawyer U Ko Ni. U Thein Thein Oo, the General Secretary of the Myanmar Independent Organisation (Central) said such a committee was needed given the murder was not an ordinary crime. He said the lawyer group would write to the State Counsellor, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, to call for establishment of such a commission. “This is not an ordinary murder case. It is a politically motivated crime. Those who are involve in killing are former gazetted officers in military. They have formed a group and systematically planned and spend millions of Kyat to commit the crime. We will write to the government to take this murder as a terrorist act. We will also send letters to international organisations. We have decided to write a letter to the State Counsellor to call for establishment of an independent commission of inquiry,” U Thein Thein Oo said. U Ko Ni who was a legal adviser to the National League for Democracy was gunned down on 29 January this year in front of the terminal 1 of Yangon International Airport. Four suspects Kyi Linn, Aung Win Zaw, Zeyar Phyo and Aung Will Tun are charged with murder. Other suspect Aung Win Khaing is still evading the arrest. The police said it is coordinating with their counterparts from many countries for the arrest of the fifth suspect. Reference: Daily Eleven May 4
