Here is why -
Nirupa Serasingha, NPP candidate at the Parliamentary Election had taken a picture with Devani Jayathilaka and uploaded it to Facebook with a Sinhala caption which roughly means "meetings". Many accounts had misused that photo, by changing the caption to (roughly in English) "With the iron lady who got the membership of the NPP today". An external fact checker had checked with both Nirupa Serasingha and Devani Jayathilaka and confirmed that Devani has not taken the membership of NPP by then.
