The head of Rakhine State Immigration department faces a lawsuit filed by the members of the Rakhine National Party (ANP) after the officer issued a Rohingya women citizenship identification card, Ludhu Pon Yeik journal reported quoting the Rakhine News Agency. The lawsuit was filed after the immigration officer informed ANP that his department has issued citizenship ID to Ma Mya Nanda Khin, from Buthidaung Township after she was found eligible for citizenship after an assessment made according to the 1982 Citizenship Act. The secretary of U Aung Than Wai ANP however said the move was illegal, as both parents of Ma Mya Nandar Khin have no citizenship identification card themselves, so she would not be eligible for that. The party formed a group to file the lawsuit and the group will be led by U Aung Than Wai. There were also a number of protest staged by the ANP to protest against issuing citizenship IDs to Rohingya in Buthidaung, which were joined by local residents.
